The Inspiring Story of Naran Kaka: A Real-Life Example of Grit, Growth Mindset & Never Giving Up

Everyone remembers their school days, right?

Even I do those carefree days filled with books, friends, and little joys. But today, I want to share something beyond just my school life. It's a story that stayed with me over the years, and it's about a very special person: Naran Kaka.

🧓 Who is Naran Kaka?

If you ask me who Naran Kaka is, I would say in just one line- he is a true man. Let me tell you why.

Back when I was in Class 5, around 12 or 13 years old, Naran Kaka used to sell seasonal treats outside our school. In summer, he'd sell juicy mangoes, and on other days, you'd find him offering cool drinks, ice creams, or tasty bhel puri. I especially loved Naran Kaka's special guava. No matter the season, he was there smiling, kind, and full of energy.

When I reached Class 12, there he was again, doing the same thing with the same spirit. He wasn’t just a vendor; he became a part of our school memories, part of our childhood. We all knew him. We all loved him.

Years Later…⌛ a Surprising Encounter

Time moved on. I completed my graduation, and one day, I suddenly remembered him. A wave of nostalgia hit me, and I felt a strong urge to meet him.

I went back to my school, hoping to see that familiar face outside the gate. But he wasn’t there. Another vendor had taken his place. I felt a little sad, a little lost.

A few weeks later, while on my way to meet some friends, I saw a small vegetable shop by the roadside, and there he was. Naran Kaka! The same man, now selling vegetables, smiling just like he used to. My heart filled with joy. He hadn't vanished, he had simply grown.

Grit and Growth Mindset🌱

Yes, the shop was small, but you could see in his eyes he was proud. He had taken small steps, tried thousands of times, and never given up. He kept moving forward, day by day, without complaint.

From a psychological perspective, what Naran Kaka demonstrated is called grit, a concept developed by psychologist Angela Duckworth. Grit means the passion and perseverance to achieve long-term goals, even when things get tough. It’s not about being the smartest, it’s about never giving up.

He also lived by a growth mindset, a concept by Carol Dweck, which means believing that abilities and success come from effort and learning. People with this mindset view failure not as the end, but as a lesson.

Naran Kaka didn’t wait for the perfect opportunity. He created his own little world and kept pushing forward, step by step.

A Spark That Changed Me

At that time, I was facing some personal difficulties. I felt stuck and unmotivated. But meeting him gave me a fresh perspective.

If Naran Kaka could continue with such patience, such determination, why couldn’t I?
His journey reminded me that success doesn’t always come with noise or recognition.
Sometimes, it comes quietly, wrapped in simplicity and hard work.

Life lessons from Naran Kaka

  • Keep going, even if progress feels slow.
  • Small steps every day build something big.
  • Hard work and consistency
  • Real success isn’t in money or fame, it’s in never giving up.
  • Grit and a growth mindset are more powerful than we realize.
  • The most inspiring people are sometimes the simplest ones around us.

Why Naran Kaka’s Story Matters Today?

Because,

Naran Kaka is a great man.
Not because he built a big empire.
Not because he became rich or famous.
But because he never stopped trying.

He is a living example that hard work, honesty, and consistency always pay off, no matter how small the steps, no matter how long the journey.

Thank you, Naran Kaka, for being a part of my childhood.
And thank you even more for being a life lesson I’ll never forget.
